Meet Christy!

Hi, I’m Christy, a wife and full-time working mom of two beautiful girls, Alira and Layla. I started my path to professional photography in college, where I took my first photography class at OSU. I originally began college with the intent of pursuing a degree in Veterinary Medicine, but soon I became enamored with all things art. So when I finally had the opportunity to learn about photography, I eagerly took advantage of it. I had never thought seriously about art as a career, but when I entered the vast world of fine arts, I realized that it had potential to be a very challenging and fulfilling career choice. After obtaining a bachelor of fine arts degree in photography, I was still unsure of how I was going to use my education. I began working for Olan Mills, running a portrait studio in Lancaster, Ohio. I loved most aspects of the job, but I felt I could have more artistic freedom working independently. My boyfriend at the time, John, knew that a good photographer needs a good camera. So, instead of an engagement ring, he proposed to me with my very first DSLR camera. (Don’t worry, I eventually got a diamond too) Over the next year, I had a blast planning my dream wedding. I hand made all of the invitations, bouquets, decorations and favors. I even took my new fiancé to a local park to photograph our own engagement photos. I did all this because doing so allows me to individually personalize our special day, making it all the more memorable. I feel like photography can play a huge part in developing lasting memories that are unique to one’s personal aesthetic and provide priceless keepsakes to cherish for generations.

Shortly after my wedding, I gave birth to our first daughter. Being a spirited new mom, I focused mainly on baby and family portraits because I was infatuated with the concept of preserving precious moments in my photographs. It’s very important to capture those unforgettable milestones, and I love being able to do that for other families, as well as my own. I have always loved art, whether it’s painting, sculpting or anything crafty, I’ve tried it. Pinterst.com is a huge source of inspiration for me, personally and professionally. I enjoy browsing through pins, looking for new ideas for home decorating or cute themed photo shoots. I embrace the fact that that art is so much more widespread and accessible to everyone these days and hope to see a continuation of its popularity.

In 2011, I was introduced to wedding photographer, Christy Gibson. I assisted her as a second shooter at a wedding in Columbus, and I fell in love. Since then, Christy and I have become close friends and partners through our shared love of wedding photography. We strive to develop personal relationships with our clients because we believe that having that bond makes for great photographs that capture that unique love of the couple we’re shooting. Since then, Christy and I have shot hundreds of weddings together, each one special, and I cannot imagine doing anything else. We have been recognized by TheKnot.com with “Best of the Knot” awards for the last three years of working together through her business, Gibson Photographics. We’re constantly trying to learn new techniques in order to refine our ever-expanding styles. Thank you for taking the time to read a little about me, and I genuinely look forward to meeting you and your family to talk about the great photos that I can capture for you.
